July - Half Way Point of 2009

Today is July 1st. Half way through 2009. Time for some re-evaluating. I usually take either July (half way point) or September (back to school time) to readjust, re-evaluate, re-do, re-think, etc. Time to begin again. Does anyone else do this? Sometimes I think its a school thing.

Reading-wise = I've read more books this year than I have in a really really long time. I'm hoping to keep this pace up for the rest of the year. Maybe I'll actually reach 100.

I joined challenges this year in order to read books on my bookshelf. Until this summer, I've done a pretty good job of keeping on task. I've since strayed to YA library books. While I'm not disappointed in my progress, I do want to refocus some of my reading attention back to my bookshelves.

Writing-wise = Completely suck at this task. I have purchased several books on writing for adults and students and not finished any. I really want to try all the techniques and strategies before I attempt to teach them. I've also failed miserably at writing down my thoughts on all the books I've read this year. This was the purpose of this blog and I've not been doing it. So I want to at least get some thoughts down on a weekly book review post.

So my goals are going monthly as I fail miserably at daily goals. For the second half of the year I hope to:
  1. Read 1 or 2 books from my bookshelf for July and August.
  2. Indulge completely in my YA addiction for July and August.
  3. Come September - refocus back to my bookshelves completely with only 1 or 2 YA books
  4. Read 1 professional development book monthly
  5. Finish 1 book from the Bible monthly
  6. Start writer's notebook and try techniques from various books
  7. Work on grammar
  8. Blog my thoughts on books read weekly

By the way, I love these evaluations. I need to do that, too.
