Questions for Readers

Readers are one of the most valuable knowledge bases.  I have a couple questions for you.  If you have the answers or suggestions, please leave me a comment below or email me directly (thethingsweread@gmail.com).

1. How can I get pictures taken on my phone to print?  To print at a store like Walmart or something?

2. Can you see changes to the blog's pages through Google Reader?  If not, does anyone know how to get them to show through readers?

3. How do you get those cute and cool looking Twitter buttons for retweeting?  Either the bird one or the one that is a box and shows how many times its been retweeted.

4. Do you think blog posts look better with both edges justified or just the left-side justified?

5. How do you create a Facebook page for your blog?

6.  What do #hashtags mean in Twitter?  How to create them and what do you do with them?

7.  In Blogger under Stats, what are the referring URLs?  Is it the site someone clicked on a link to my blog?  Is it the last website someone was on before they click over to my blog?  I've clicked on some of them and I don't see any mention of my blog or a link or anything.  So I'm not sure how a particular URL becomes a referring URL.

8. Does anyone write for or read Hubpages?

1. I have an I-phone, so I just download the pics onto my laptop.  Then store then on a removable drive, like a thumb drive.  Then take the drive to CVS for printing.  Or I think you can email the photos now.  Now sure about that.

2. Not sure what you mean by this, but I am assuming changes to the background and stuff.  I don't think you can, but I haven't used GR in quite some time.

3. I do not Tweet, sorry :)

4. Doesn't matter to me, either way.

5. No clue, I'm on FB but grudingly.  Not a fan of that either, and don't want my blog and real life to collide.  Mainly because of all my FB "friends" who really aren't friends.

6. I would like to know this answer to!

7. Never checked my stats.  Sorry!

8. No for both for me.

Well I guess this wasn't totally helpful, as I'm only into blogs and not the rest of online stuff.  It's too much for me.  Hope you get the answers you're looking for.

Google something like 'twitter how-to' & that will explain hashtags.  And, when you have a twitter account you can get the badges on that site.  I think the referring URL's are who has visited your site.  Do you see mine once in a while?  Good luck with finding all your answers, Bree.

Hi!
I will see if I can answer a few of your questions:

1) I hardly ever make photos with my phone because the quality is crap and I always take my lumix everywhere anyway ;). But when I occasionally do I just get the photos from my phone onto my laptop with my USB cable and print the photo the way I normally do. Or if you have email on your phone you can email the photo.

2) I don't work with Google reader so I wouldn't know.

3) I don't know about those Twitter buttons, can't find them either ;). I have the same buttons as you at the bottom of my blog.

4) I don't really mind I think.

5) I did make an extra account on FB but you can also link one to a current account. Log in to the account. At the bottom you will see something like 'create a page' and you will be linked to a widget to set it up. There are plenty of bloggers who wrote a 'how to' blog so I will add one for you: http://www.smartpassiveincome.com/the-bloggers-guide-to-facebook/.
Hope it will help. I'm still in the process to make mine look a bit more attractive as well ;)

6) Hashtags mean that your tweets are about a certain topic, sometimes a tv show, or a book club or whatever people are talking about. If you look in the column on the right at Twitter you will see something like: trending topics, these are mainly hashtags as well. You create them by just writing #topic that's all. When you click on the hashtag you will see everyone's tweets on that topic. It's very practical when you want to know more.

7) I think it could be both. It could also be that you have been talking on your blog about a certain topic and they would find you by googling that. But I don't check my stats too regularly. Maybe blogger help could give you more info on that one.

8) Nope.

Well, I hope I was at least of some help to you! Have a nice day!

Thanks, Linda. On the referring URLs, no I don't see yours which is one of the things that confuses me about the URLs. I rarely see people who I know read me but there are always ones that I have no idea. Oh well.
