Wine to Water is my second book tour with TLC Book Tours and I've very appreciative to read another great book for them.
Now on to the book:
Book Back Cover Blurb:
Doc Hendley never set out to be a hero. In 2004, Hendley, a small-town bartender, held wine-tasting events to raise awareness and funds for clean-water projects around the world. He had planned to donate the proceeds through traditional channels, but instead found himself traveling to one of the world's most dangerous areas: Darfur, Sudan. There, Doc witnessed a government-sponsored genocide where the number-one weapon was water, not bullets....Today, Doc and Wine to Water continue to help repair and maintain water-containment systems in places like Darfur, Cambodia, Uganda, and Haiti. My Thoughts:
Doc writes in a very easy-to-read style, like he is talking directly to each reader. I enjoyed his story thoroughly. He is amazing. His background does not give to fundraising and aid work but he had a calling, an urgent need to do something to help. Hence, the formation of Wine to Water. Doc used his calling to set up fundraising events and then go to Darfur for a year to fix and dig wells. His continued devotion, to a project that most people in first-world countries would find extremely difficult or bothersome, is awe-inspiring. Read his story. You will like it.
