Cooking My Way is part of my 2011 and 2012 projects as well as one of my lifetime 100 Things. Below is last week's recipe.
Quick Cheese Sticks
My son and I both thought this cheese bread was pretty good but need a little tweaking. First, we did not cut into strips prior to cooking because we thought it would make the cheese fall off. Second, I rolled the dough out a little bigger than stated. Third, add more non-dry cheese to make it cheesier such as a Colby-jack blend or mozzarella. We dipped ours into hot spaghetti sauce.
4 ounces sharp Cheddar cheese, finely shredded (1 cup)
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper (cayenne)
1 tube (10 ounces) refrigerated pizza crust dough
1 tablespoon stick butter or margarine (not spread), melted
1. Heat over to 350F. Grease cookie sheet.
2. Mix cheeses and pepper in a small bowl. Roll out pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to a 20x11 inch rectangle. Brush with half the butter; sprinkle with half the cheese mixture. Roll lightly with rolling pin to press mixture into dough. Fold dough in half lengthwise. Brush top with remaining butter, sprinkle with remaining cheese mixture and roll out with rolling pin until strip of dough is 6 inches wide. Cut crosswise into 3/4-inch wide strips. Twist strips and place 1 inch apart on prepared cookie sheet.
3. Bake 18 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to wire rack to cool.
